Intel Embedded Competition 2011

Intel recently announced that it will be supporting research and development activities in embedded computing as part of its education initiative. This Intel® Embedded Competition is supported in Germany by the Fraunhofer Society, primarily represented by the "Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering" (IESE), and the Innovation Center “Applied System Modelling” of the Fraunhofer Center in Kaiserslautern and Kaiserslautern University.Candidate competitors from Germany, France and England are invited to submit a paper describing novel product ideas based on Intel processors (Atom). A competitor can be any individual or group of individuals, from one or several organisations that work as a single team. All papers will undergo a peer review by members of the technical program committee for this competition.
Each submitted paper must not exceed 4 pages (including all tables, figures, and references) and must be submitted by August 1st, 2011 to [email protected]. The papers must describe original work and must include a description of the hardware, deployment, algorithms, and protocols used.
In addition to paper submissions, each team must submit a working prototype solution for its idea. This may be hardware, software, or both. Submission deadline for the prototype is August 26th, 2011. Prototype submission is mandatory to qualify for the Embedded Competition 2011.
The organizers intend to award a prize money of 2.500€ for each of the best 5 submissions from each country. The winners of this price will be announced at end of August. The price aims at supporting further development of the product idea. Hardware Platforms will be provided (1 per team) to continue development. Travel costs to the Intel Challenge Europe Finals in Sopot will be expensed based on terms and conditions. Semi-Finals: The winners of each country (D, F, E) will be announced. Each finalist team is awarded with additional prize money of 5.000€.September 28th, 2011
The winning team of each country presents its ideas in a special session during the Challenge. The final winner is awarded with additional 10.000€, and professional business plan coaching to support further development of the presented idea.Important Dates
